Remember to Be Thankful for Health

thanksgiving-spreadWe’re already halfway through November and Thanksgiving is right around the corner.  I know we all try to be thankful everyday for what we have, but it’s also nice to have a day where we come together with family and reflect on the things in our life we are grateful for. So in the spirit of the holidays, I wanted to a less informative approach this week and spend some time reflecting on one of the best gifts of all: great health.

Let’s be honest: are you investing the time and effort into your health that you should be? Some of you can confidently say “yes”. However if you’re not, that’s okay. You’re not the only one. In the hectic everyday routine of life it’s easy to forget about our health in between work, family, and our other responsibilities.  However taking care of our bodies now will have long-lasting impacts for our health in years to come.

Easy fixes are watching what we eat, incorporating daily exercise, and seeing our doctor regularly. A little maintenance goes a long way. It’s easier said than done, I know. That is why I always promote implementing regular massage sessions by using real statistics and studies that can show you just how beneficial massage therapy and bodywork can be in a holistic health approach.

Stress can take a toll on your body that you may not be conscious of. Every day our body withstands a number of stressors environmentally, physically, and psychologically. It goes without saying that massage therapy is known for promoting relaxation and reducing stress. But here are some other conditions from the American Massage Therapy Association that massage therapy can help you with:

  • Cancer-related fatigue
  • Low back pain
  • Osteoarthritis of the knee
  • Reducing post-operative pain
  • Boosting the body’s immune system functioning
  • Decreasing the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Lowering blood pressure
  • Reducing headache frequency
  • Easing alcohol withdrawal symptoms
  • Decreasing pain in cancer patients

It’s the list of conditions that my work helps with that makes me grateful. I am blessed to work in such a positive career. Everyday I am blessed to help others with through healing massage and bodywork. There is nothing that brings me more pleasure than seeing a client walk climb onto my table and get off of it feeling refreshed. I am proud that I can use my skills and knowledge to make a positive difference in my client’s life.

I urge you that if you’re not investing the time and energy into maintaining your health as much as you should that you give me a call. Together we’ll work with your primary care physician to get you started on easy fixes that can improve your health long-term.
